Getting up early and doing a day trip for the Queen charlotte sounds track. The boat left at 8am for Torea Bay – then it’s a 24.5km walk to “Camp Bay” which should be 8 hours (you can see a picture with a sign that actually displays 9 hours) and get picked up again by boat there at 16:30. Again I was a bit faster then the average – it took me only 4:10.
When starting I met some guys on mountain-bikes which did a 36km tour being picked up by the same boat further down the track – so while walking (ok, running from time to time as there just wasn’t enough ascent – too boring to walk) I though I do the bike tour on foot. I would have had plenty of time (met the bike guys at camp bay 🙂 ), but at the end it started raining and there was a sign with just 3 letters on the route which is really dangerous:

B A R

at that point (after walking in the rain for like 45 minutes) – “Burger and a Beer” sounded much better then “another 12km”… 🙂
was a bit of a wait – but also it wasn’t “a” beer – more like beer”s”

Every Kiwi is so helpful. In the morning I asked the boat operator if they would know where I could visit a sauna after the walk and they didn’t know but said they will figure it out while I’m walking. Coming back at close to 18:00 they had an option for me in another town (30 min. drive) and I went there.

even with the little bit of rain in the end it was a great day again!
