Fitzroy Crossing and Geikie Gorge
I just find it amazing that this “little creek” can be such a big river if the rain comes. You can see based on the color of the stones in the river. There were signs in the “visitor center” that shows the water level at the ceiling (9m above normal level) – and the river is couple of km broad then!
That’s what I call a flood (sorry everyone in Austria/Germany who had trouble with flooding in the last weeks…)

Record floods occurred in 1983, 1986 and 2002 with approximately 13 metres of water over the old concrete crossing. The flow rate down the 15 kilometre wide flood plain at Fitzroy Crossing was estimated to be 30,000 cubic metres per second. In flood, it is probably the largest river in Australia.
